Woman Gets Jail Time
for Avoiding Drug Test

A Winchester woman was convicted Wednesday of attempting to
defeat a court-ordered drug test by inserting a bottle of
urine into her vagina.
Terri Michelle Ricketts, 19, of 293 Valley Mill Road, was on
probation after being charged with possession of marijuana. On
June 26, as part of her probation, Ricketts was to take a
mandatory drug test.
Mark Miller, Ricketts’ probation officer, said testers
discovered the bottle containing a clean urine sample
allegedly provided by Rickett’s father-in-law when the bottle
fell out of Rickett’s body.
Judge David Shaw Whitacre found Ricketts guilty of the
misdemeanor charge and sentenced her to 12 months in the
Regional Jail.
Had she completed the eight-month probation without offense,
the possession charges against her would have been dropped
because she was a first-time offender, Miller said.
“The kicker of it is, if she’d have tested dirty, she’d
probably have served about 30 days,” Miller said.
Ricketts filed an appeal Thursday against the conviction. Her
case will go to Winchester Circuit Court on Oct. 28.
