Trick Daddy Under
House Arrest
Mon Sep 29 2003
Rapper Trick Daddy, whose real name is Maurice Young, has been
placed under house arrest by a judge following an arrest last
week for illegal drug possession. The rapper was taken into
custody on Wednesday (September 24), by police during a high
school football game, according to the Miami-Herald.
Police responding to a complaint at Homestead High School in
Miami, Florida, were escorting the rapper from the stadium
when they discovered marijuana and cocaine in Trick Daddy's
pocket. The rapper maintains that he borrowed the shirt and
didn't know about the drugs.
Trick Daddy was released on $15,000 bail on Friday (September
26), in order to make two area concert dates but will return
to court on Monday (September 29), to begin serving house
arrest until his October 15 arraignment. The rapper will be
given an ankle bracelet and was ordered to undergo drug
testing by Judge Dennis Murphy.
Trick Daddy was already out on bail when he was arrested. The
rapper was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm,
possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and
possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in February.
He is accused of threatening Pernell Paige with a gun
following a pick-up basketball game. He was released after
posting $22,500 bond, and could face a maximum of 35 years in
jail if found guilty of all charges.
Trick Daddy was convicted in 1991 of cocaine possession,
carrying a concealed weapon, and violating probation. The
rapper served two-and-a-half years in Florida state prison.
