These tests are necessary and should be performed on everyone who appears guilty or is under suspicion. I also believe they should be performed randomly on all employees within any organization. If drugs are a problem in schools, which they are, they need to be performed on kids. Look, we can't allow our kids to grow up using illegal drugs! If a kid possessed a gun should he/she be allowed to carry it to school? No! It is illegal, just like drugs are illegal. Anyone who is against drug testing has bigger problems. It is not an issue of civil rights or personal privacy. It is the obligation of a government in a society to protect it's citizens from all evils. This obligation is not limited to foreign evils such as other countries or groups. It includes both foreign and domestic evils. People much smarter than you decided pot should be illegal. So it is. There are plenty of countries in the world where you can move to that accepts this type of behavior, regardless of how disgraceful it is. In your above story, you mentioned a guy who went to a concert and inhaled second hand pot smoke and had to get drug tested. After the concert he then lost his job of 12 years and his wife. You are only telling one side of the story, why didn't the guy leave the concert? If I was standing on the street and a guy shot his wife right next to me and I didn't do anything about it would that be right? Isn't it my obligation as a citizen to report illegal activities to the proper authorities? If this guy did that while he was at the concert, I am pretty sure the police report would ensure he keeps his job and wife. In short, your example is bogus and there isn't one example in this world that you can give any law abiding citizen that would prove your point. It may work on these dope heads here, but not anywhere else.
